James D. Beaton

Attorney at Law

James Beaton has been practicing law mainly in Southwest Ohio since 1974. His law offices have always been based in Warren County and he has been practicing at his current office location since 1991.

Mr. Beaton, a native of Virginia, graduated from Virginia Tech in 1970 with a BS in business and obtained his law degree from Ohio Northern University in 1973. He served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Warren County Prosecutor Office for 32 years. During his tenure as prosecutor, he handled thousands of both misdemeanor and felony cases, including five capital cases and over three
 
hundred other felony jury trials. He was also appointed special prosecutor in neighboring counties on nearly a dozen cases. Mr. Beaton also successfully prosecuted one of the Lucasville Riot cases in the mid-nineties.

James Beaton has for over the past ten years represented individuals charged with criminal offenses involving misdemeanors, felonies and DUIs. He has also handled domestic relations, small business, and estate planning matters, including wills and probate, for over forty years.

Mr. Beaton and his wife, a former elementary teacher, have resided in Landen for over thirty years and are members of St. Margaret of York Catholic Church. They have two grown daughters.
